DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's lacrosse team trailed by just one goal headed into the first half but used a massive seven-goal third quarter to take a definitive lead and earn the win over the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game the Aggies honored their fifth-year player
Ryley Savering in addition to seniors
Robert McCarnan,
Sean Miller and
Ryan Lindberg.
Juan Zurita put the Aggies on the offense winning the faceoff to start the game.
Kieran Schneider ripped off the first shot stopped by the stick of Joseph Seminatore.
Owen Kelly regained possession for the Aggies' forcing the turnover leaving Schneider to take his second shot of the game this time finding the back of the net to put the Aggies up 1-0.

Sean Miller at 12:22 left the Aggies down a man putting the Dolphins in position to even the score just 10 seconds later, 1-1. Mount Saint Vincent took the lead seven minutes into the second quarter with the play resulting in two penalties for the Aggies. With the Aggies' defense exposed, the Dolphins took their shot using the edge to extend their lead, 3-1.
With just 2:10 until the half, the Aggies offense went to work. Miller fired off the shot saved before the ball found its way to
Owen Kelly who brought the ball out of traffic from behind the net making space from deep for the rocket shot bringing the deficit to one, 3-2.
The momentum continued to swing in the Aggies' direction out of the break. Aston Benkwitt forced the possession change leaving Ryan Linberg to head downfield teaming up with
Ryley Savering for the two-on-four play converting the shot to even the score, 3-3.
Mount Saint Vincent responded quickly to regain the lead before the Aggies went on a two-goal run from Schneider and Savering to put DelVal back in the lead for the first time since the first quarter, 5-4. The lead lasted just 40 seconds before the Dolphins evened it out at five apiece.
Unnecessary roughness from the Dolphins gave DelVal the one-man edge setting up Kelly to find Savering for the hat trick to put the Aggies back in the lead. Schneider put up back-to-back goals off the assists of Kelly and Savering before Savering took his shot at the net to make it a 9-6 game at the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, Schneider and Savering each recorded their fifth goals of the game while
Luke Witko recorded his first to push the Aggies to a six-goal lead, 12-6. The Dolphins broke their nearly 15-minute scoring drought with one last goal to end the game, 12-7.
The Aggies return to action next Saturday, Mar. 8 at Bryn Athyn at 1 p.m.
