DUNMORE Pa. – The Delaware Valley University Baseball team picks up their first win of the season scoring 16 runs against Penn State Scranton.
The Aggies offense started off strong in the first inning with a
Liam Martin double, scoring
Reese Hackett who reached on a hit by pitch.
Braedyn Kormanic singled giving the Aggies another RBI, giving them a 2-0 lead.
The Aggies did not settle with two runs. With runners standing on second and third base in the second inning, Martin singled scoring both runners, making the score 4-0. To start the third inning,
Nate Ludwick doubled and then scored on a
Daniel Murphy single. With bases loaded, Hackett and Martin both hit sacrifice pop-outs, adding two more runs for the Aggies 7-0 lead.
After a scoreless fourth inning,
Blake Ramos hit another Aggie double with runners standing on second and third base, scoring one. The Aggies scored two more runs on a sacrifice ground-out and single from
John Dzielawa. After a double play by the Aggies to end the fifth inning, they put up two more runs in the sixth inning on a Lion throwing error and another Martin hit. The Lions offense came alive in the bottom of the sixth, putting up four runs on five hits. The Aggies still held the lead 12-4.
With one out and bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Murphy homered, scoring four more runs for the Aggies.
John Slover pitched six innings allowing four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Martin went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and Murphy went 3-for-5 with five RBIs.
The Aggies next game is Saturday, March 1st when they travel to Ursinus for a doubleheader match.
