HOBOKEN, N.J. – Antonio Redding dropped 47 points for Delaware Valley men's basketball in a 78-72 upset over the first-place Stevens IT Ducks on Wednesday after postponement.
First-year guard
Miles Demby set the tone early, drilling a corner three after a Stevens turnover on the opening possession. Both teams started fast, but
Antonio Redding's deep three forced the Ducks to call an early timeout with Delaware Valley (DelVal) leading 10-6 just three minutes in.
Out of the timeout, Stevens responded with a dominant 13-0 run, holding the Aggies scoreless for over five minutes. However, Redding stayed hot, sinking back-to-back threes to spark a 9-0 DelVal surge, tying the game at 19 near the halfway mark of the first half.
The three-point barrage continued, with
Ryan Everett knocking one down before another from Stevens prompted a timeout. The Ducks' Scholl then converted a four-point play after drawing a foul, giving Stevens a 35-30 advantage. Redding answered, draining his fifth three-pointer of the half and sinking a pair of free throws to tie the game just before the break.
Two minutes into the second half, the score remained knotted before Redding buried another three, putting the Aggies up by five. After
Kamal Johnson's layup, a fast-break three and an easy bucket from Spellman evened things up at 46. Stevens kept their momentum rolling, mounting a 10-0 run.
But DelVal refused to back down. Redding came up with a key steal, feeding
Zoelin Pair for a dunk that reclaimed a one-point lead. With ten minutes remaining, a free throw gave Redding a new career-high of 29 points. He followed up with a layup and another three, extending his total.
With
Jordan Gombs fouled out,
Jeremiah Alexander made an impact off the bench, hauling in four rebounds and blocking a shot before a Stevens timeout. At that point, DelVal led 61-56 with 6:37 to go. Redding continued his offensive explosion, hitting a turnaround jumper and his eighth three-pointer of the night, giving him 40 points and pushing the Aggies' lead to nine.
As DelVal attempted to wind down the clock, both teams struggled with turnovers. Stevens cut the deficit to six with back-to-back threes in the final two minutes, but Redding iced the game with a banked jumper and clutch free throws. His final total of 47 points marked the second-highest single-game performance in program history.
With this victory, the Aggies improve to 12-11 overall and 7-6 in MAC Freedom play. They close out the 2025 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22, hosting DeSales for Senior Night.
