Men's Basketball Falls Late to Arcadia 64-58

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The lead changed 17 times as the Delaware Valley men's basketball team fell to Arcadia, 64-58, in a contest that came down to the final minutes.

The game began slowly, with nearly two minutes passing before the first points were scored. Zoelin Pair opened the scoring with a jumper, then followed it up with a block and a layup at the other end of the court. Arcadia briefly took the lead, but Pair kept up his hot start, slamming home a dunk after receiving a pass from Antonio Redding. Pair finished the first half with 13 points.

A 10-0 run by the Aggies, highlighted by a three-pointer from JT Wright III, put them ahead 14-6. Midway through the first half, Kamal Johnson hit a three, but Arcadia responded with a 6-0 run that eventually stretched to a 13-2 stretch, giving the Knights a 22-20 lead with 6:35 remaining. The teams traded the lead back and forth, with key three-pointers from Jake McGinty and Wright III. After a brief scoring drought of over two minutes, Miles Demby ended the half with a three-pointer, assisted by Ryan Everett, to give DelVal a 35-32 advantage at the break.

Out of halftime, Jamison Lynam tied the game at 37 before quickly putting the Knights ahead. The Aggies held Arcadia scoreless for the next two minutes, but the Knights responded with a 6-1 run. Johnson stole the ball and was fouled on his way to the basket, tying the game again at 45 with 13:00 remaining. The teams traded misses before Wright III broke the cold streak with his third three-pointer of the afternoon.

DelVal held Arcadia scoreless for another three minutes before McGinty sank a three-pointer, putting the Aggies up by four with 6:00 to go. With just under three minutes left, Jordan Gombs made two free throws to give DelVal a three-point lead. However, Lynam quickly tied the game again before Attivo put the Knights back on top, forcing DelVal to call a timeout. Out of the break, Pair evened the score at 58, but Arcadia's Attivo hit a deep three-pointer and followed it with free throws to seal the win for the Knights.

With the loss, DelVal drops to 11-12 overall and 6-6 in the MAC Freedom. The Aggies will continue their push toward the postseason on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Stevens Institute of Technology.
