YORK, Pa. – Delaware Valley men's basketball fell to the vote-receiving York College Spartans, 70-57, on Saturday afternoon.
Antonio Redding opened the scoring on DelVal's first possession, and back-to-back threes from Jeremiah Alexander and Mike Herrin put the Aggies up 8-5 early. York's Tate responded with six straight, and a 10-0 Spartan run was finally stopped by a Redding finish in the paint. Jeremiah Lee added a bucket before Jordan Strickland converted a three-point play at the 9:29 mark. An 8-2 stretch brought the Aggies back within two, but York rebuilt its advantage. After a Herrin layup made it 33-27, the final 2:26 of the half went scoreless, highlighted by Alexander's second block of the day.
Alexander added another block to open the second half, which eventually led to a Redding three as both teams traded early misses. Strickland kept DelVal within five with a bucket, but by the midway point York had pushed its lead to 12. A 9-0 DelVal run—featuring scoring from Strickland, Herrin, and Kamal Johnson—cut into the deficit, but the Spartans had an answer. Rowe and Haberern hit threes, split by Herrin at the line, and additional baskets from Smith extended the gap to 66-50 with under three minutes left. Jake McGinty and Herrin added late layups, but York matched each score down the stretch.
With the loss, the Aggies drop to 3-4 and return home to host Rosemont College on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 3:00 p.m.
