DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley men's basketball outpaced Centenary University, 108-80, on Saturday afternoon behind a 34-point performance from Antonio Redding, who scored his 1,000th career point in the win.
The teams traded layups to open the game before Brendon Bradford knocked down his first three-pointer two minutes in to give the Aggies a lead they would not relinquish. Redding grabbed a defensive rebound to start a fast break finished by JT Wright, and moments later, a steal by Redding led to a layup of his own. Brian Mordi followed with a defensive board that turned into a jumper from Mike Herrin, helping DelVal build a seven-point cushion.
Near the midway point of the half, Ryan Everett extended the lead to double digits at the free-throw line, making it 24-14. Herrin later found Redding for a three-pointer as the Aggies continued to stretch the floor. Bradford and Redding combined for three triples during an up-tempo stretch, with Herrin picking up multiple assists. A steal and three-pointer by Herrin, followed by a layup from Jeremiah Lee, sent DelVal into halftime leading 53-39.
Centenary opened the second half with a three from Carbone, but Bradford answered immediately from beyond the arc. After a brief Cyclones run, Mordi threw down a dunk off another Herrin assist. Redding hit a jumper six minutes in, and baskets from Kamal Johnson at the line and Mordi inside pushed the Aggies' lead to 23.
Redding scored his 1,000th career point with 5:26 remaining and finished with 34 on the afternoon. Late buckets from Andy Webb Jr. and Zach Smith sealed the 28-point victory. DelVal shot 68.4 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from three-point range, with 13 Aggies scoring.
With the win, Delaware Valley improves to 5-5 overall. The Aggies return to action on Tuesday, December 20, hosting Immaculata in Doylestown.
