DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley men's basketball struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm in a 71-51 loss to New Jersey City University on Wednesday evening.
After Crawford opened the scoring for the Gothic Knights, Antonio Redding answered with a three-pointer, though DelVal fell behind 10-5 early. A layup from Jeremiah Lee and a three by JT Wright kept the Aggies within striking distance five minutes in, and Redding's drive to the basket pulled DelVal within one. Brendon Bradford later connected from beyond the arc to tie the game at 15 following a defensive stop that included a block by Jeremiah Alexander.
Foul trouble proved costly for the Aggies, allowing NJCU to regain momentum. Mike Herrin converted a three-point play with 5:43 remaining in the half, but a stretch of free throws and five straight points from Rogers-Robinson pushed the Knights' lead to double digits. Lee stopped a 6-0 NJCU run with a layup before the buzzer as DelVal trailed at the break.
Jordan Strickland drew a foul to open the second half, but a three by Williams and a scoreless stretch stalled the Aggies' comeback effort. Redding and Lee each hit from deep to keep DelVal within reach, yet a 7-0 run by the Knights widened the gap. Bradford knocked down another three near the midway point, but NJCU extended its lead to 20 behind baskets from Green and Rogers-Robinson.
Late buckets from Herrin, Redding, and Lee, along with transition scores by Zach Smith and JT Wright, were answered at the other end as the Knights maintained control to the final horn.
With the loss, Delaware Valley falls to 4-5 overall. The Aggies return to action on Saturday, December 20, when they host Centenary.
