DelVal Football Rolls Past Alvernia, 43–10

READING, Pa. – Delaware Valley football rolled over Alvernia with two early touchdowns from Justin Brown, cruising to a 43-10 victory over the Golden Wolves on Saturday.

After kicking off to start the game, the Aggie defense forced a quick three-and-out, and a short punt set up the offense near midfield. Justin Brown opened the drive with a 13-yard dash, followed by completions from Mike Galasso to Jahaire Johnson and Alex Rufe for back-to-back first downs. Brown found the endzone on a short run, but a holding call on Gavin Migliori brought it back. Unfazed, Brown carried the ball on three straight plays and punched it in again, with Brendan Hazell adding the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

The Golden Wolves reached the DelVal 29-yard line before Rayon Carter forced and recovered a fumble to end the threat. Galasso connected with Brown for 13 yards on third down and then hit Alvaro Lora for 11 more. A holding call on Alvernia and another completion to Johnson for 12 yards set the Aggies up in the red zone as the first quarter came to a close.

Brown struck again early in the second, doubling the DelVal lead to 14-0. Carter continued his dominant day on defense, intercepting Alvernia's Gonzalez deep in Aggie territory. The offense capitalized quickly — Galasso found Rob McConnell for a 38-yard gain before hitting him again for a 12-yard touchdown to make it 21-0. Alvernia's next drive ended with a missed 36-yard field goal, though the Golden Wolves managed to convert a 38-yarder as time expired in the half.

Out of the break, the Aggies marched down the field, highlighted by two big catches from Migliori for 23 and 21 yards. Galasso capped the drive with a 9-yard strike to Migliori in the endzone to push the lead to 28-3. Later in the third, Kahir Thompson hauled in a 42-yard pass to set up Hazell, who drilled a career-long 40-yard field goal to make it 31-3.

Early in the fourth, Alvernia's Simmons broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run, the Golden Wolves' only trip to the endzone. The Aggies quickly answered — Brown ripped off 43 yards on three carries before a fumble at the Alvernia 8-yard line stopped the drive. Moments later, Micah Bootman found Robinson in the endzone for a safety, adding two more points. Migliori followed with another deep reception, this time for 48 yards, setting up Hazell for a 32-yard field goal to make it 36-10.

The defense sealed the win when Taji Hubbard intercepted Gonzalez at the DVU 19 and returned it 37 yards. On the ensuing drive, Jerimya Paula broke free for a 44-yard rush up the middle before Peyton Murphy connected with Darius Miller for the final touchdown, closing out the 43-10 win.

With the victory, Delaware Valley improves to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in MAC play. The Aggies will hit the road for their regular season finale at Misericordia on Saturday, November 8, in Dallas, Pa.
