MADISON, N.J. – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team battled FDU-Florham to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon, with the lone Aggie goal coming off a Devils own goal.
The Aggies applied early pressure as Nathan Congdon fired a shot low and center 10 minutes in, but it was saved by the FDU keeper. The Devils responded with a pair of attempts from Dauti — one sailing high and the other stopped by Nick Becker. Congdon and FDU's Widerynski traded shots midway through the half, both on target but saved. In the 35th minute, a DelVal corner kick led to an FDU own goal, giving the Aggies a 1-0 lead. The Devils had two more opportunities before the break, but both shots went wide.
Becker was tested early in the second half, making a key save before the Devils sent a series of shots off target. After an Aggie attempt from Luke Martin missed wide, FDU's Maguire received a yellow card in the 59th minute, followed by one to Congdon five minutes later. The Devils finally broke through in the 75th minute when Martin converted, tying the match at 1-1.
Congdon had DelVal's best chance late, while FDU pushed for a winner in the closing moments — including a close-range shot from Dauti that sailed high as time expired.
With the draw, the Aggies move to 9-4-2 overall and 1-2-2 in MAC Freedom play. They wrap up their road schedule on Tuesday, October 28, at Misericordia University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
