Aggies Knock Down Rosemont in Three-Set Sweep

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team bounced back in a big way dominating Rosemont on the road in convincing fashion with a three-set sweep.

Right from the jump, the Aggies dominated. In the first set, DelVal's attacking and serving forced Rosemont into early trouble, and the Aggies closed it out 25-5. The Aggies offense gained even more momentum in the second set giving up just one point, 25-1. Rosemont tried to settle in during the third, but DelVal kept the pressure on finishing the match 25-9.

DelVal's offense was impressive across the board. The Aggies racked up 25 kills on a .471 hitting percentage, while holding Rosemont to just one kill and a –.250 hitting clip. Delaware Valley also owned the service line, delivering 18 aces compared to just 2 for the Ravens, and forcing Rosemont into 11 attack errors throughout the night.

Defensively and at the net, DelVal was equally dominant. The Aggies finished with 24 digs as a team, consistently keeping rallies alive and turning defense into offense. At the net, they posted the only block of the game between the teams.

Individually, standout performances anchored DelVal's win. Monique Smith led the attack with a match-high seven kills while Alyssa Fink controlled the service line tallying eight aces. Madison Alexander orchestrated the offense beautifully with 13 assists. In the back row, Samantha Wilton paced the defense with 10 digs. Cassandra Gloster turned in a strong all-around effort with six kills, one service ace and two digs. Kai Logan joined forces with Smith for the lone block of the game.

The sets mark the three largest margins of victory in a set for the Aggies this season. DelVal will look to build on this momentum as it continues through its non-conference slate this Saturday, Oct. 4 when the squad hosts Penn State Schuylkill at James Work Gymnasium for a noon start.
