DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Delaware Valley men's soccer team earned an exciting 2-1 conference win over King's College on Saturday afternoon at Robert A. Lipinski Field, highlighted by strong efforts from both sides of the field.
The Aggies struck first midway through the opening half after
Zydan Stewart broke free on a one-one run with the goalkeeper, who slid in and drew a foul inside the box.
Roy Hevener calmly converted the ensuing penalty kick to the left side of the net to give Delval the 1-0 advantage in the 27
th minute.
Kings pushed hard to equalize before the break, holding a 14-5 edge in first-half shots, but
Nick Becker was outstanding between the posts, collecting eight saves in the opening 45 minutes to preserve the Aggies' lead.
The Monarchs managed to tie up the game in the 65
th minute when Jackson Nuttall found the back of the net, but the Aggies wasted little time regaining momentum. In the 83
rd minute,
Ernort George II scored the go-ahead goal to put Delval back on top 2-1. Becker continued his stellar play down the stretch, finishing with 13 saves on the day to secure the conference game.
The Aggies' next home game is Wednesday, October 22nd where they host Arcadia.
