DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley field hockey team opened MAC Freedom play in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 shutout victory over Arcadia at home.
The win marks the third straight for the Aggies, who improve to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Arcadia came out strong with a pair of shots in the fourth minute, but DelVal goalkeeper Brook Golbeski stood tall in the cage, turning away both attempts to keep the game scoreless. The early defensive stand swung the momentum in the Aggies' favor, setting the tone for what was to come.
Just minutes later,
Kenzie Boyd collected a pass from
Brynne Miller about 10 yards outside the circle. Boyd weaved through two Knights defenders to create space and fired a shot that forced Arcadia goalkeeper Anna Doblovosky into a diving save. The rebound popped into the air, where
Alex Graffius was perfectly positioned to knock it home and give DelVal the 1-0 lead.
The Aggies doubled their advantage in the second quarter off a well-executed penalty corner.
Kaylee Hartung sent the insert to
Lillian Plank, who fed Boyd on the left side of the circle. Boyd then dished to Miller, who maneuvered right and ripped a shot into the back of the cage to make it 2-0.
DelVal's precision passing paid off once again in the final frame. On another penalty corner opportunity, Hartung delivered the ball up top to Miller, who quickly passed left to Boyd. Boyd redirected the feed into the bottom-left corner for her second point of the game, sealing the 3-0 victory.
Boyd and Miller each finished with one goal and one assist to lead the Aggies' attack, while Golbeski anchored the defense with five saves in a complete-game shutout.
Delaware Valley continues its homestand on Wednesday, October 15, when the Aggies host Lebanon Valley at 7 p.m.
