DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's and men's cross country teams opened up their 2024 campaign strong hosting the Aggie Open on campus on Saturday morning.
The women's squad tallied 23 points for the victory in the 6K while the men recorded 36 points to claim second in the 8K.
Emma East led the pack on the women's side maintaining the front spot through the entirety of the race. The sophomore finished nearly two minutes ahead of the crowd with a final time of 26:38.73.
Eva Herrera made her cross country debut with a fourth-place finish and a final 6K time of 28:45.37. Lindsay Taylo returned for her second year crossing the line right behind Herrera with a time of 29:03.29.
Samantha Swearingen and
Kamella Gechter finished out the runners on the women's squad placing ninth and 10
th, respectively. Swearingen brought in seven points with her time of 30:36.55 while Gechter put up eight points with a time of 31:50.04.
Matthew Skikus and
Colton Del Collo were the top finishers on the men's side. Skikus crossed the line first in third place with a time of 30:21.79. Del Collo followed behind at 31:47.70 for fifth place.
The duo of
Jayce Corbin and first year
Isaac Boyer finished back-to-back in 12
th and 13
th. Corbin clocked in at 34:19.59 while Boyer recorded a time of 34:20.01 in his first 8K with the Aggies.
Newcomer
Matthew Izuka rounded out the point-scorers for DelVal with 12 points in 17
th place and a time of 35:56.74.
The Aggies get right back at it next weekend for the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton on Saturday, Sep. 14.
