DelVal Falls to Eastern on the Road

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Delaware Valley field hockey team fell behind by three goals in the first quarter and struggled to comeback giving up six goals total to the Eagles to drop the contest 6-0.

Eastern held the 9-2 edge in shots over the Aggies putting up four goals in the first half. The Aggies picked up the offense in the third quarter tallying eight shots to the Eagles' four. Alex Graffius and Kaylee Hartung got the first two looks of the half for the Aggies each firing off shots in the first three minutes of the frame.

DelVal owned the possession in the final six minutes of the third quarter totaling six shots. Ashley Birmingham started the attack in the 40th minute with a shot wide. Birmingham stepped up again for the shot saved just three minutes later with Sydney Keagle collecting the loose ball for a shot blocked.

Paige Sammons took her chance at the cage about 15 seconds later but found the pads of the Eagles goalkeeper. Birmingham and Graffius rounded out the frame with a shot each both blocked by the dominant Eastern defense.

The offense slowed on both sides in the final quarter with the Aggies managing to hold the Eagles to just one shot in the final 15 minutes.

DelVal returns to action this Wednesday, Oct. 2 at home on Robert A. Lipinski Field when they host Cedar Crest at 7 p.m.
