NEW YORK, Ny – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team secured a 1-0 victory against the Bulldogs of John Jay College in a non-conference match-up.
The Bulldogs gained possession first and fired off three shots in the first ten minutes leading to Aggies' goalkeeper
Aiden Lane to his first save of the game. The Aggies gained possession five minutes later and had three back-to-back shots, two of which from
Danny Henson. Lane stopped the scoring effort twice more in the 21
st and 25
th minute to keep the game scoreless. The Aggies would have six more opportunities at the net, five of which were saved.
At the 59
th minute, Henson was given another opportunity with a passed ball from
Prince Mugisha, this time giving the Aggies a 1-0 lead. The Aggies had five more scoring opportunities within the next six minutes, but none of them found the back of the net. At the 78
th minute, Lane had his fourth save of the game to keep the score 1-0.
The Aggies out-shot the Bulldogs 21-9, with eight shots on goal. Lane had five total saves, securing the Aggies' 1-0 victory shutout.
The Aggies' next home game is Wednesday, September 18th where they will face the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University at 4 p.m.
