Four Aggies Score in Loss at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team kept pace with FDU-Florham to start the first five minutes of the game, but a three-goal run and nine-goal second quarter for the Devils was too much for the Aggies to overcome dropping the contest 23-10.

The 10 goals marks the first time DelVal had recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring games since a three-game win streak dating from Mar. 28 through Apr. 3.

FDU-Florham wasted no time getting on the board netting the first goal of the game just 40 seconds into play. DelVal's defense was ready with Victoria Offenburger scooping up the loose ball in the back field making way for Samantha Charles to find Susan Rawding at the 13:16 mark for the tying goal. The Devils took a single goal lead just about two minutes later but drew a foul to put the Aggies in a free position situation. Rawding stepped up to take the shot, finding her way beyond the keeper to even the score yet again, 2-2.

The Devils held the 5-2 edge through the remainder of the frame to take a three-goal lead. Rawding netted a hat trick at the 6:52 mark thanks to the help of Kyra McKeegan who followed up with the Aggies' fourth goal of the game at the 30-second mark.

FDU-Florham picked up the momentum in the second quarter with a 9-3 advantage over DelVal. Anna Kimbel ended a five-goal run for the Devils to bring the growing deficit down to seven, 12-5. DeVal managed to hold the Devils to just one goal over the next two minutes while Ashley Birmingham went to work netting two goals in the timeframe to bring the gap down to six, 13-7. FDU-Florham finished the frame on a three-goal run to take a 16-7 lead into the second half.

The Devils put up four unanswered goals to open the first 6:40 of the second half and build up a 13-goal lead, 20-7. Another three minutes passed before the Aggies ended their scoring drought thanks to the duo of McKeegan and Rawding marking Rawding's fourth goal of the game. The duo got right back at it in the final frame with McKeegan assisting Rawding yet again followed five minutes later with a solo goal to bring the deficit down to 11, 21-10. DelVal gave up two more goals to the Devils dropping the contest with a final score of 23-10.

Rawding led the Aggies in scoring with five goals. Birmingham led the team in shots firing off nine while placing six on goal. The senior also totaled a team high five ground balls and eight draw controls. Emily Drake played all 60 minutes in the net recording nine saves.

DelVal returns to action for their final home game this season when they host Stevens this Wednesday, Apr. 24th at 4 p.m.
