Men's Lacrosse Earns Win Over FDU-Florham 11-8

Doylestown, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's lacrosse team was guided to their first 2024 conference victory over FDU-Florham by Chris Marren's four goals and Jim Murphy making big-time saves guarding the net.

The Aggies turned up the pressure on the Devils early forcing the goalie to make three saves in a row and banking one off the post. FDU went down the other end hitting the post before Luke Kelchner took an illegal body-checking penalty. After the penalty expired Jack Sprinkle opened up the scoring at the halfway mark of the first quarter. Three minutes later, the Devils turned the ball over on a clear attempt, and the Aggies capitalized going ahead 2-0 thanks to Marren's first goal of the afternoon. FDU scored a minute later but Marren answered with his second goal, assisted by Sprinkle. The Devils netted a buzzer-beater to keep the Aggies within one.

Ryley Savering and Marren combined for three goals in the first five minutes of the second quarter extending their lead, to 6-2. A turnover by Murphy with seven minutes left led the Devils scoring but the Aggies held a three-goal advantage going to halftime.

Sprinkle scored back-to-back tallies in the open two minutes of the second half, and Ryan Lindberg picked up an assist on the first goal. At 11:53 Luke Kelchner was sent off for pushing and the Devils capitalized on the extra-man opportunity. The Aggies and Devils traded goals, DelVal's Marren goal was assisted by Frederick Offenburger. FDU scored again with 2:50 left to keep the Aggies within reach.

The Devils struck first in the final corner, but the tally was answered by Savering scoring while a man-up, Kieran Schneider picked up the helper. Both squads scored a final marker in the remaining minutes but Aggie's defense and keeper Murphy held strong to hold the three-goal margin.

With the Aggie's first MAC Freedom win of the season, they improve to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference. DelVal men's lacrosse is back in action on Wednesday, April 24 at Stevens IT.
