RIVERDALE, NY – Delaware Valley men's lacrosse took down the Mount Saint Vicent Dolphins after trailing 3-0 early in the first to end victorious 8-5.
Kieran Schneider fired the first shot on goal of the game on the Aggie's first possession. The Dolphins struck first scoring off a DelVal turnover just over three minutes in. After MSV scored two more,
Chris Marren picked up a groundball after a
Jack Sprinkle shot and he put the Aggies on the board with seven to go in the first quarter. Three minutes later,
George Evanick cut into their lead again, scoring his tenth of the season assisted by Schneider. The Dolphins turned the ball over and Marren almost tied the game at three but hit the post.
Goalie
Jim Murphy made an early save but turned the ball over on the clear attempt, leading to a Dolphins tally; Schneider scored on the next DelVal possession to keep this team within one. MSV scored at the halfway point in the quarter now up 5-3. After the Aggies killed back-to-back penalties, Evanick scored his second of the game on a man-up opportunity.
With 9:12 left in the third, a cross-checking penalty was called on the Dolphins and
Ryley Savering capitalized knotting the game a five, Sprinkle picked up the assist.
Savering then captured the first lead of the game for DelVal after picking up a rebound from Evanick's shot that was saved with Eight to go in the fourth. With two minutes to go, Marren connected with Sprinkle to cash an insurance marker for the Aggies. Schneider put in his second of the game for good measure with 39 ticks left to seal the 8-5 victory.
Extending their win streak to two, DelVal men's lacrosse improves to 4-6 overall and are next in action on Friday, April 5 for their MAC Freedom opener at Desales with the faceoff set for 7:00 p.m.
