Fisher Records Final Nine Outs to Defeat Clarks Summit in High Scoring Affair

Doylestown, Pa. – Nathan Fisher locked down the final three innings for the Aggies as they came out on top of the high-scoring affair against Clarks Summit University 18-14 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Defenders plated three runs in the first all of starting pitcher Liam Bennett who Jeremy Kapsa replaced.

Jared Ecenroad walked and Jimmy Kelly reached on an error. Ryan Pittari also reached on an error and Ecenroad scored. Ayden Hinkel then tripled down the right field line scoring the two on base. Daniel Villegas singled up the middle scoring Hinkel before Lucas Santise sent out a SAC fly to center driving home Jakob Koenig. At the next at-bat Blake Ramos hit a single through the right side scoring Villegas to take a 6-3 lead.

Clarks Summit scored one in the third and four in the fourth to retake the lead 8-6.

Pittari walked with the bases full of Aggies in the fifth driving in Ramos.

An action-packed sixth began when the Defenders scored three runs in their turn at the plate before DelVal answered with seven of their own to take a 14-11 lead. After Samuele Mattia scored on a hit-by-pitch, Kelly reached on a fielder choice where everyone was safe including Santise at home. Jonathan Drews then scored on a wild pitch followed by Kelly scoring off a Hank Bielen single. Later that inning, Mattia singled up the middle plating James Miskanic and Bielen.

The Defenders knotted the contest at 14 in the top of the seventh but Drews, Bielen, Miskanic, and Ty Gossel all scored unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Fisher struck out the side in the eighth and followed that up with a 1-2-3 ninth to seal the victory and his first win of the 2024 season on the mound.

Scoring 18 runs on 15 hits, the Aggies improve to 11-17 overall and match up with Lebanon Valley College this weekend for MAC Freedom action at home on Friday and on the road Saturday.
