Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Stevens, Taking Game One 5-4

Hoboken, N.J. — Delaware Valley baseball split their Saturday doubleheader with Stevens winning game one 5-4 and dropping game two 13-0. 

Liam Martin singled through the left side and Jonathan Drews was hit by a pitch to put runners on in the first. Gavin Migliori in the cleanup spot drove both of the runners home singling up the middle to put DelVal ahead 2-0. Starting pitcher Dalton Moore sat down the Ducks 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning. 

With two outs in the second, Martin singled up the middle before snagging second on a wild pitch. Drews then reached on a dropped fly ball in right which ended up scoring Martin. With Drews on second, Hank Bielen reached on a throwing error by the catcher driving in Drews to put the Aggies up 4-0. 

The Ducks loaded the bases in the fifth and four runs scored off a single followed by a double, the runner was out at third stretching the double. 

Migliori singled, Reese Hackett walked, and Blake Ramos singled up the middle to load the bases in the top of the seventh. James Miskanic walked to drive in the winning run. Reuben Costin struck out a batter and got a batter to ground out into a double-play to seal game one. 

Game two didn't go as planned for the Aggies as the gave up six runs in the first inning and only mustered four hits in the game, eventually falling 13-0. Colin Foley was a bright spot for DelVal, pitching the final 1.2 innings, striking out three. Martin, Hackett, and Miskanic recorded the Aggie hits. 

Following the split, the Aggies record moves to 9-11 overall and 2-5 in the MAC Freedom. They next hit the field on Tuesday, April 2 at Messiah.
