Baseball Drops Both to DeSales in Center Valley, 45 Runs Plated in Game Two

Center Valley, Pa. - After taking the first game of the series at home against DeSales University, Delaware Valley dropped both ends of Saturday's doubleheader at Weiland Park 4-1 and 25-20. 

DeSales plated their first run of game one in the second with a man on second, a single out to center field drove him home.  

In the fourth, Gavin Migliori tripled to right field and scored on a wild pitch when Nathan Fisher was at the plate. DeSales scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning increasing their lead to 3-1.  

A man reached on a fielder's choice for the Bulldogs in the sixth and was driven home by a Kusters double to seal the game. 

Connor Esbenshade tossed all 6.0 innings notching seven strikeouts for the Aggies, walking just one. His season record moves to 0-1.  

With a pair on for the Aggies to begin game two, Migliori singled through the left side scoring Hank Bielen. Reese Hackett reached on a fielder's choice, but a throwing error loaded the bases for DelVal. Evan Scally also reached on a fielder's choice scoring Bielen. Nathan Fisher blasted a home run down the left-field line giving the Aggies a 5-0 lead. The homer was the first for DelVal this season. In the bottom of the inning, Zuchowski hit a two-run home run.  

After sitting the Aggies down in order in the second, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the inning to take the lead, all of starting pitcher Patrick Flynn.  

DelVal loaded the bases in the third for Nathan Fisher who sent a sacrifice fly out to right field scoring Bielen. Andrew Schneider walked to load them again which was followed by James Miskanic who walked to drive in Migliori, tying the game 7-7. The Bulldogs loaded the bases when it was their turn at the dish and DeStaso flied out to center field driving in a run to retake the lead.  

In the fourth, the Aggies tied the game once again at eight a side when Migliori reached on a throwing error by the pitcher and Jonathan Drews scored from second.  

More runs came around for the Aggies in the fifth off singles by Bielen, Scally, and Miskanic and a double from Hacket breaking out to a 14-8 lead, all happening with two outs. DeSales was able to tie the game by the time the Aggies got the third out. 

Hackett walked to load the bases for DelVal in the sixth before Scally double down the left-field line scoring all three. Fisher then singled to left field and eventually got to third off an error, Scally scored. After a DeSales pitching change, Schneider sent a sac fly to left field driving home Fisher to put the Aggies in front by five. 

Another Bulldog error cost DeSales a run in the seventh, but they plated four runs of their own, including a three-run blast of the center field fence by Anhalt.  

The Bulldogs tied the game and took the lead, capitalized by another homerun scoring two, to seal a 25-20 victory in the ninth inning. 

The Aggies return home on Monday, March 18 hosting Penn State Schuylkill for a makeup game at 3:30 p.m.
