Hackett's Walk-off Single Boosts Aggies Past Wilson

DOYLESTOWN, PA. - Reese Hackett hits the walk-off winner to boost Delaware Valley baseball past the undefeated Wilson College Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon.

Gavin Migliori singled off a bunt to load the bases in the first inning after Jonathan Drews was hit by a pitch and Hank Bielen walked. Drews scored on a fielding error by the shortstop which was followed by Reese Hackett singling through the left side to score Migliori and Bielen. A fourth run was brought in for the Aggies when Tyler Mellinger was hit by a pitch to bump Evan Scally home. Connor Newman and the defense shut the Phoenix down 1-2-3 to wrap up the first.

In the second frame, Scally sent another one through the left side with the bases loaded scoring Drews. During the next at-bat, Hackett singled which sent Migliori and Bielen.

The Pheonix put runs on the board in the third off a three-run blast over the left-center fence making the score 7-3. With a pair of Aggies on base, a dropped fly ball by the right fielder scored a pair of runs off the bat of Scally.

Wilson rounded home a run with a man on third scoring off a single up the middle and again in the sixth scoring a run off a single down the right line climbing back still down 9-5.

In the seventh, pinch hitter Peyton Taylor hit a two-run homer to right field making the score 9-7 Aggies.

The Pheonix tied the game at nine a side in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the inning, Bielen singled through the left side before Ridge Watson came in to pinch run. Migliori reached on an error and Scally was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With a new Wilson pitcher on the mound, Reese Hackett sent a single out to the left-field fence driving home the winning run.

DelVal baseball begins MAC Freedom play tomorrow taking on DeSales University at home, first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
