Aggies Baseball Wins Both Ends of Doubleheader Over Rosemont

Devon, Pa. - Delaware Valley Baseball opened their 2024 season with a pair of seven-run wins over Rosemont College on Sunday afternoon.  

Game One 

Rosemont scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning off starting pitcher Ethan Saxe who pitched three innings in his first outing of the season with four strikeouts. The Aggies answered with four runs in the third. Gavin Migliori reached on an error then stole second base. He was then driven home by a Hank Bielen double. Andrew Schneider walked before Nathan Fisher tripled to drive in both runners. Reese Hackett singled and drove Fisher home to go on top 4-2.  

In the fourth, and with the bases full of Aggies, Schneider singled to the pitcher driving in Migliori and everyone was safe. A pitch then hit Fisher to score another run stretching the Aggies advantage to 6-2. 

Reliever Reuben Costin struck out two in the bottom of the sixth. Dalton Moore threw the final two frames with three K's to earn the win. 

Hackett tripled to open the final frame and was driven home thanks to a Migliori sacrifice fly to center.  

Game Two 

DelVal scored in the first frame of game two when Biedlen doubled then found third on a balk call. He was then driven in when Evan Scally singled. 

With the bases loaded in the second, Bielen hit a single to the outfield which scored James Miskanic

Starter Patrick Flynn struck out two batters to shut down the second after giving up a walk.  

Rosemont scored a run in the third but was quickly answered by two more Aggie scores in the fourth off a pair of singles by Bielen and Scally to go ahead 4-1. 

Miskanic drove home two more runs in Tyler Mellinger and Ridge Watson in the fifth.  

John Slover threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth for with one K and earned the win for game two. 

Bielen walked to open the sixth, eventually finding himself on third base. Watson sent a sacrifice fly out to right field scoring the seventh and final run.  

The 2-0 Aggies next hit the diamond on Tuesday, Feb, 27 at Immaculata for a single nine-inning contest.
