Aggies Struggle in 60-48 Loss to York College

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team was defeated by York College, 60-48, on Saturday afternoon. Chris Miers led the Spartans with 21 points and three steals.

York was able to capitalize on DelVal's turnovers throughout the game, scoring 16 points off of them. Bench points were also scarce, with both teams contributing just seven points from their reserves. Mike Herrin led the Aggies with 12 points, while Jordan Gombs and Reggie Washington each added 10.

Tate Landis opened the scoring, but Zoelin Pair quickly answered with a dunk, assisted by Washington, to get the Aggies on the board. After a scoreless stretch of nearly two and a half minutes, York took a 10-2 lead. A jumper followed by a layup from Gombs kept the Aggies within reach. However, York went on a 10-0 run, pushing their advantage to 37-17 with just over a minute remaining in the half. A layup by Marquel Fitzgerald stopped the run, but Miers hit a three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer, leaving the Aggies trailing 40-19.

In the second half, Gombs, Washington, Pair, and Jake McGinty traded baskets with York in the opening five minutes. The Aggies managed to hold the Spartans scoreless for over six minutes, but could only score seven points during that stretch, leaving them still down by 16. Herrin added back-to-back scores in an effort to close the gap with nine minutes left. Delaware Valley put together an 8-2 run in the closing minutes but was unable to overcome a 10-point deficit.

With the loss, the Aggies fall to 3-4 on the season. They will be back in action next Saturday, Dec. 14, at Susquehanna University.
