DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team put together a huge 18-point run in the second half to take the lead and not look back defeating the University of Mount Saint Vincent 76-67 in the home opener.
 
A pair of free throws for 
Zoelin Pair put the Aggies on the board first, but it wasn't long before the Dolphins flipped the lead putting up 14 points to take an eight-point edge, 14-8. Pair cut the deficit to six followed by a nearly two-minute scoring drought broken with a three-pointer by JT Wright from 
Jordan Gombs making it a one-point game, 14-13.
 
The Dolphins answered back with a 12-0 run to build up their first double-digit lead, 26-13, with 8:20 remaining in the half. The Aggies mounted a comeback putting up 15 unanswered points. Pair sunk the layup to even the score and 
Antonio Redding converted the long ball to put DelVal ahead for the first time since the second minute, 28-26. DelVal maintained a 5-2 edge to take a five-point lead into the half, 33-28.
 
The Aggies maintained their edge through the first three minutes of the second half allowing UMSV to even the score just once before back-to-back threes by 
Reggie Washington and Redding created an eight-point advantage, 44-36. The Dolphins responded with their own three-pointer to come within three, but DelVal put together an 18-8 run through the next 5:43 to build up its largest lead of the game, 62-49, with seven minutes left to play.
 
Mount Saint Vincent controlled the action over the next 5:22 with a 15-7 run to cut the deficit down to single digits, 69-64. 
Jordan Gombs went down for back-to-back layups to start a 7-3 run that the Aggies would take through the end of the game for the win, 76-67.
 
Three Aggies ended the night in double-digit scoring with 
Mike Herrin leading the pack tallying a team-high 15 points. Pair added 11 rebounds in the game to mark his first double-double of the season. 10 different Aggies contributed points to the victory.
 
DelVal returns to action this Wednesday, Nov. 13 when they host Penn State Abington at 7 p.m.
