Men’s Basketball Tallies 96 in Victory Over Penn State Abington

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team put together an impressive 50-point performance in the second half to take down Penn State Abington 96-64 at home on Wednesday night.
 
Trailing by five in the first minute and a half, the Aggies mounted a comeback with a 6-4 run to bring the deficit down to just three with 15 minutes on the clock, 9-6. Antonio Redding sunk the three-pointer to kick off a 5-0 run to even the score, 13-13. The score remained knotted for nearly three minutes before JT Wright III converted the long ball to give DelVal its first lead of the game, 16-13.
 
The Aggies maintained a 14-7 scoring advantage over the next 2:33 to take a 10-point lead, 30-20, shooting 6-of-7 from the field in the spurt and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Miles Demby leading the scoring effort joined by Redding and Jordan Gombs each converting three-pointers. Redding's momentum continued adding seven more points to keep DelVal ahead, 37-24, with just over three minutes to play in the half.  The Aggies put up nine more points thanks to impressive 2-of-2 shooting from beyond the arc to take a 46-29 lead into the second half.
 
The threes continued to fall to start the second half with the Aggies knocking down two in a 12-5 run over a two-minute span for the 24-point lead, 58-34. The Nittany Lions attempted a comeback with a short 6-0 run ended by Redding from beyond the arc sparking a 7-0 run to keep the Aggies ahead with their largest lead yet, 65-40.
 
Abington cut the deficit down to 16 with a 9-0 run over the next 2:06. Zoelin Pair kicked off the Aggies 12-4 response building back up a 24-point advantage, 77-53, and force a Nittany Lions timeout with 7:19 left to play. Herrin spearheaded a 13-4 performance over the next four minutes to give the Aggies a 33-point edge, 90-57. Ryan Everett knocked down his first career three to help push the Aggies to 96-64 to end the game.
 
Redding led the Aggies in scoring with 23 total points. Three other Aggies joined him in double-digits on the night. Pair and Demby led the battle at the boards with eight rebounds apiece. Pair also led the team in blocks with three.
 
The Aggies are back in action this Saturday, Nov. 17 at New Jersey City for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
