Aggies Round Out Regular-Season Home Games With a Victory Over Wilkes on Senior Night

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team hosted Wilkes for their final regular-season home game, defeating the Colonels 3-1 after celebrating their six seniors in a pregame ceremony.
 
Kills from seniors Zariah Prescott, Grace Kane and Gretta Schneider started the Aggies off strong with a 7-1 run. The Colonels closed the gap to four twice before a short 3-0 spurt from the Aggies reextended the lead back to six, 12-6. Wilkes wouldn't get closer than three with the Aggies finishing off the set on a 5-3 run to take the win, 25-20.
 
Wilkes took an early lead, but Kane, Schneider and Emma Helverson combined for a 3-0 run to switch the lead in favor of the Aggies. The Colonels answered with an 8-2 run to take a nine-point lead, 18-9. DelVal was held to just six more points in the set falling 25-17.
 
The Colonels saw the first run of the game to take a four-point lead, 7-3. DelVal responded swiftly with an 8-1 run highlighted by three kills from Kane to gain the three-point edge, 11-8. The Aggies gave up two points before Victoria Tucker and Helverson put up four total kills to expand the lead to five, 15-10. Wilkes clawed back closing the gap to just one before making an attack error to give the Aggies the final point needed for the win, 25-23.
 
DelVal started the final set big with three consecutive kills from Schneider followed by back-to-back service aces from Madison Alexander to ignite a 6-0 run for the early lead. The Colonels closed the gap to one before the Aggies put together a 5-0 spurt to regain the six-point edge, 11-5. Three kills from Kane helped the Aggies to extend their lead to eight, 16-8. Helverson went on to record two kills to push the Aggies to a nine-point advantage, 20-11. Trailing by eight, 24-16, the Colonels attempted a comeback, but Helverson blocked the attack to earn the winning point for the Aggies, 25-16.
 
The Aggies wrap up their season on the road next Wednesday, Nov, 6 at Stevens for a 7 p.m. conference contest.
