GLENSIDE, Pa. – Jess Williamson scored twice, giving the Aggies an early lead, but Delaware Valley women's soccer fell to Arcadia 5-2.
Marissa Rogers fired the first shot on goal for the Aggies just under four minutes into the game, and in the fourth minute, Williamson put the Aggies ahead with her seventh goal of the season. After
Viola Anderson made a save, Williamson had two attempts go wide before
Meztly Garcia put a shot on net.
Both teams traded shots, primarily from Williamson and Isabella Marcinkiewicz, with both goalkeepers making crucial stops. The Knights finally broke through in the 35th minute when Emily Di Silverio found the back of the net. Both keepers had made five saves by the end of the first half.
To open the second half, Williamson was awarded a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Abigail Fuchs made the initial stop, but Williamson collected her own rebound, banking it off the post and into the goal to regain the lead at 2-1.
In the 61st minute, Arcadia equalized and then took the lead just three minutes later. Williamson had two more shots on goal, but the Knights extended their advantage with goals in the 77th and 83rd minutes.
Following the loss, the Aggies fell to 2-13-1 overall and 0-5-0 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal will wrap up their 2024 schedule with home contests on Wednesday and Saturday, facing FDU-Florham and Lebanon Valley for Senior Day.
