Baker Scores Twice as Late Comeback Falls Short to FDU-Florham

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – A late rally fell short for Delaware Valley women's soccer on Wednesday, as they dropped a conference contest to FDU-Florham, 4-3.

The match began with Jess Williamson hitting the post on the opening kickoff, and the Devils quickly tested starting keeper Viola Anderson, who made three crucial saves. FDU opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a goal from Ashley Dietrich.

Just before halftime, Emma Letizia beat Anderson to give the Devils a 2-0 lead. FDU then added two more goals within four minutes of the second half, starting with Ashleigh Frankel's goal in the 56th minute, followed by Mia Lopez scoring what would prove to be the game-winner in the 60th minute, putting the Devils ahead 4-0.

The Aggies finally found the back of the net when Gillian Baker was fouled in the box, earning a penalty kick that she converted for her fourth goal of the season.

In the 83rd minute, Williamson forced a turnover, and the ball fell to Baker, who scored again to cut FDU's lead to 4-2. With just 30 seconds remaining, Olivia Ball stripped a Devil defender of the ball and set up Williamson in front of the net for the Aggies' third goal. This marked Williamson's 54th career goal, moving her past Elise Dauber into sole possession of second place on the Delaware Valley all-time goals list. Earlier this season, she also surpassed Dauber in all-time points, now standing at 133.

The Aggies will wrap up the 2024 season on Saturday, Nov. 2, with a senior day matchup at home against Lebanon Valley College.
