GLENSIDE, Pa – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team broke their scoring drought during the MAC Freedom match-up against the Knights of Arcadia University, but ultimately fell 1-3, falling to 0-5 in conference play.
During the first 11 minutes of the match, six fouls were called between the Aggies and the Knights. At the 12
th minute,
Jacob Luciani broke away from the Knights defense, giving the Aggies their first shot of the match. At the 24
th minute, the Knights created five back-to-back scoring opportunities.
Nick Becker saw all five shots, saving two, keeping the score 0-0. The Aggies had two additional opportunities, neither of them finding the back of the net.
Two minutes into the second half,
Andrew Grunwald found the back of the net from Luciani, giving the Aggies the lead. Becker saw three shots in ten minutes, saving two, but ultimately missing the third shot which tied the match at 1-1. At the 59
th minute,
Amos Debah was given a red card and the Knights scored, giving them the 1-2 lead. After the Knights' goalie made a save from
Rourke Watson, the Knights moved the ball down field quickly and found the back of the net for their 3
rd goal. The Aggies lost 1-3, dropping their conference record to 0-5.
Becker ended the game with four saves, after facing 17 shots.
The Aggies next game is Tuesday, October 29
th when they face the Devils of FDU-Florham in another MAC Freedom conference match at 7 p.m.
