Dallas, Pa. - Delaware Valley's Godly Marc sank a career-high 27 points with the Aggies falling late to Misericordia University 66-65 on Saturday afternoon.
Marc sank six points through the first four minutes boosting the Aggies to an early 8-2. Rasheem Dearry dropped in a layup before Marc did the same, to answer a push from the Cougars. At 12:08 Marc hit a three-pointer with an assist from Jojo Pierre, and Misericordia followed with four straight points. Two minutes later, Marc fit his third and final three of the half to give him 15 points through the first 20 minutes of action. Kamal Johnson found Dearry who hit a three to hold a seven-point advantage with 2:42 left. In the closing minute, Alec Hilliard's three sent DelVal into the break on top 32-26 shooting 54.5% beyond the arc.
Marc opened the half for the Aggies with a layup, but Cougars hit a three and was fouled for a four-point play. Antonio Redding connected on a three-pointer before the Aggies called a timeout up 34-31. Out of the timeout, Misericordia went on a 13-0 run to take a 44-37 lead, Marc ended the run with a pair of free throws. At 12:14 Redding found Dearry for a three-pointer, making it a two-point game. Dearry blocked a shot at the hoop and then found Zoelin Pair downcourt slamming home a dunk. Redding drilled back-to-back threes bringing the Aggies within one of the Cougars as the game went scoreless for the next three minutes. Pair got his own rebound with 30 seconds left for a tip-in layup snagging the lead back. A missed free throw sent Misericordia's Kevin Lazdowsky to put in the game-winning layup.
Following the loss, the Aggies fall to 7-12 overall and 1-7 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal next hits the court on Wednesday, January 31, hosting FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m. for CBAA Night.
