Hoboken, NJ – A late push fell short of the comeback with the Delaware Valley men's basketball team dropping a conference contest to Stevens IT on Wednesday evening.
Through the first five minutes, the Ducks pulled out a 15-point advantage before Rasheem Dearry scored and the Aggies called a timeout. Out of the break, Zoelin Pair stole the ball and slammed it home to cut the deficit to 11. Near the seven-minute mark, Dearry and Godly Marc both connected on three-pointers inching to within eight. Stevens then went on a 10-1 run over the next two minutes to build up their lead once again. Antonio Redding ended the Duck's run with a three followed by Marc stealing the ball and hitting a jumper in the paint. Aggies trailed at halftime 34-23.
Stevens began the second half on an 8-0 run, Alec Hilliard ended the run with a layup, assisted by Jojo Pierre six minutes in. The largest lead of the game for the Ducks came at 12:23 when Kyle Maddison hit a three to put his team up by 20. An 11-0 run by the Aggies got them back into the game with over seven minutes remaining. Trading buckets, Dearry and Godly drained threes, bringing DelVal within six points. Stevens held onto the six-point lead to snag a 69-63 victory.
Following the loss, the Aggies fell to 7-11 overall and 1-5 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal will be on the road on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Misericordia University for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
