DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team got into a three-point shooting battle with DeSales ultimately unable to recover from a 27-point performance over an eight minute period in the second half by the Bulldogs, ultimately dropping the contest 83-69.
The threes were falling to start the three minutes of the first half with
Antonio Redding knocking down the deep ball for the first points of the game.
Godly Marc followed it up with a layup for the early 5-0 advantage stuffed by three consecutive three-pointers from the Bulldogs to make it 9-5.
Godly Marc answered back with the long ball to drop the deficit to just one, 8-9.
DeSales strong three-point shooting continued pulling ahead by as many as five over the next four minutes but the Marc duo put together four points to keep the deficit down to three, 15-13. Redding converted yet another long ball to even the score, 15-15.
Rasheem Dearry stepped up to the arc knocking down the three to put the Aggies back in the lead, 18-17.
The lead changed three times over the ensuing two minutes eventually landing in the hands of the Bulldogs with the four-point advantage, 27-23. The Aggies remained in chase putting together a 13-8 run highlighted by a Redding three at the buzzer to take a narrow 36-35 lead into the second half.
The Bulldogs put up three unanswered to gain control of the lead to start the half. A 2-of-2 performance at the charity stripe and a bucket off a turnover put the Aggies back in a single-point advantage, 40-39, at 16:41. A converted three for DeSales was met with a 3-of-3 effort at the line for
Goddy Marc to maintain the lead, 43-42.
The Bulldogs built up as large as a 15-point lead off of a 27-11 run over the next eight minutes with back-to-back threes from Redding and
Godly Marc cutting the deficit to single digits, 69-60, forcing a DeSales timeout with 6:46 left in the game.
A steal and breakaway down the court for
Jojo Pierre forced the Bulldogs to foul sending the senior to the line for a 2-of-2 attempt to bring the gap down to five, 69-62. DeSales held the advantage through the final minutes with a 14-7 run to take the 83-69 win.
