Redding Nets Career High 23 Points in First Conference Win of the Season

Madison, NJ – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team secured their first conference win of the 2023-24 season over FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening, taking down the Devils 75-61.

Godly Marc hit the first basket of the game as the Aggies built up an 11-0 lead over the first four minutes. Jojo Peirre put in a layup at the 13-minute mark and was sent to the fine for an and-one. Entering the game Jake McGinty was fouled right away and connected on both throws. With two minutes to go, Marc dropped in another layup after Alec Hilliard stole the ball from the Devils, the bucket was good for the largest lead of the half at 18 points, 44-26. The Aggies went to the locker room up 44-29.

A point for DelVal didn't come until Marc was fouled and sent to the line. Near the ten-minute mark of the second half, the Devils closed within seven points of the Aggies before Tyriq Toney-Bailey sank a driving layup. Antonio Redding scored the next four points for DelVal. A steal by Jordan Gombs sent McGinty the other direction to drain his sixth point of the game. Marc and Redding capped off the contest with a pair of free throws and a jumper giving the Aggies their first conference win on the season.

With the victory the Aggies improved to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the MAC Freedom. They next hit the court on Saturday, January 13 at Arcadia University.
