Men's Basketball Drops Conference Matchup to Arcadia

Glenside, Pa. - The Delaware Valley men's basketball team was unable to overcome a 20-point deficit and fell to Arcadia University 71-62. 

The teams traded misses through the first two minutes of action, with the Aggies grabbing three steals in that time. Godly Marc broke the scoreless game with a three-pointer which was quickly followed by Antonio Redding with a three of his own. Marc hit two more threes over the next two minutes holding DelVal's six-point lead before Arcadia called a timeout. At 13:28 Jojo Pierre was fouled hitting a layup and completed the three-point play at the line. Two minutes later the Knights tied the game at 15 before taking the lead at the halfway mark. Over the next five minutes, Arcadia went on a 13-0 run to lead 31-17, Redding connected with Rasheem Dearry who ended the drought. With two to go, Pierre drained a three, assisted by Redding Aggies still trailed 41-27. Redding connected with a three sending the teams to the locker room, Aggies trailed 44-32.  

Layups by both teams were traded in the first minute of the second half but Arcadia went on to build their largest lead of the game, 22, with 14 minutes remaining. Dearry and Goddy Marc both connected with three-point buckets before Kamal Johnson sank two threes of his own, DelVal still down 61-46 with 10 minutes remaining. Seven minutes later, Godly Marc and the Aggies got back to within right of Arcadia. The Knights were able to match the Aggies for the remainder of the game downing DelVal 71-62. 

Following the loss, the Aggies fell to 7-8 overall and 1-2 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal next hits the court on Wednesday, Jan. 17 hosting King's College.
