Doylestown, Pa.- Delaware Valley Field Hockey hosted the Eagles this afternoon in a MAC Conference crossover showdown. The Aggies came into today's matchup looking to get back in the win column, while Eastern, who defeated Neumann two days ago, looked to make it back to back wins. Through two periods, the score was tied up 0-0 as both goaltenders had shutouts entering the 2nd half. With less than a minute remaining in the third, the Eagles finally broke the scoring drought, as junior Joel Groff scored off a rebound to make it 1-0. The Eagles would extend their lead three minutes into the fourth when senior Ellie Pruitt scored a beautiful goal off a pass from first year Jenna Reider. Eastern would hold on and defeat the Aggies by a score of 2-0 as senior goaltender Abby Agapito recorded a shutout.
The Aggies were led by first year Shaelynn Castanaga-Acerra with five saves on the day. Delaware Valley was also led by the three seniors, Ashley Birmingham, Samantha McCurry, and Sydney Keale all with multiple shots in the game. The Aggies will be back in action on, the road against the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy.
