DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team mounted a strong comeback in the third set, but it proved to be too little too late as the Aggies dropped the match 3-0 to Misericordia on Tuesday night.
The win improves the Cougars to 11-6 overall while the Aggies fall to 6-6. Misericordia is 2-0 in MAC Freedom Conference play while DelVal is 0-2.
DelVal came out early with a 3-1 run to take a 5-3 lead over the Cougars. Back-to-back kills put Misericordia back in it tying it up, 5-5, before a 4-0 run put the Cougars in a three-point lead, 9-6. The Aggies trailed the remainder of the set only coming within two points of tying, 12-10, before a 5-0 run from Misericordia put the set out of reach with DelVal dropping set one 25-18.
The Aggies opened the set putting up five points before the Cougars offense silenced the scoring efforts with an 9-0 run to take a 15-5 lead and force a DelVal timeout. A

Victoria Tucker put up a quick two points for the Aggies coming out of the timeout, 15-7. DelVal's offense continued to struggle putting up just seven more points in the set to drop it 25-14.
The DelVal offense found its groove in the third set maintaining a lead over Misericordia through the first 10 points of the game until a quick 3-0 run from the Cougars put them ahead by two, 12-10. The Aggies crawled their way back with a service ace from
Samantha Wilton tying things back up 14-14. The team knotted it up once more at 17-17 before an
Emily Yun service ace paired with a Deffendall kill put DelVal ahead 18-16 and forced a Misericordia timeout. The Aggies came out of the break with a quick 2-0 run started with another Yun service ace to extend the lead 20-16. A 6-1 effort from the Cougars tied it up 23-23 with the teams continuing to trade points until a final 2-0 effort from Misericordia ended the set in the Cougars favor 28-26.
Monique Smith led the attack effort for the Aggies with seven kills on 11 attacks.
Victoria Tucker was strong on the front line with a team-high three blocks. Yun led in the back court with two service aces. Deffendall, Wilton and
Grace Wilson led the defensive efforts with nine digs apiece.
