Wayne, NJ – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to William Paterson University on Monday night after an hour rain delay.
First-year midfielder Roy Hevener kicked off a scoreless first half with a shot that was answered by the Pioneers goalkeeper. William Paterson led the half with eight shots to DelVal's six shots. They also had all four corner kicks in the 45 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Andrew Roberto was solid, saving all six shots that came his way.
Sophomore defender Austin Voisine was dealt a yellow card to kick off the second half just two minutes in. At 49:16 the Pioneers put one on the board as Diego Navas scored his fifth of the season. Ten minutes later in the 60th and 64th minute, Jaden Blount added two insurance markers for William Paterson, making the score 3-0.
The Aggies overall record drops to 1-2-0 following the loss. They return to action at home against Bryn Athyn on Wednesday, September 13 with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The Pioneers continue their hot start, improving to 4-1-0. William Paterson next travels to Saint Elizabeth University on Wednesday.
