DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley baseball team hosted DeSales in game one of a three-game weekend series and allowed a first inning, three-run home run to Billy Scanlon for the game's only run, as the Bulldogs came away with a 3-0 win.
The win moves DeSales to 10-9 in MAC Freedom play while the loss drops DelVal to 7-11 and a half game ahead of Lycoming for the fifth and final playoff spot. Â
In the top of the first, Billy Scanlon lifted a two-out, three-run home run to left field to put DeSales ahead 3-0. Both pitchers settled in from there as Aggie starter Ethan Saxe allowed just three runs on five hits over seven innings. DeSales starter Jared Drake kept the Aggies off the board through seven frames while allowing just two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.
DelVal loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh, but Drake picked up a strikeout and a 4-6-3 double play to work out of the jam.
Jonathan Drews drew a seventh inning walk to extend his on-base streak to 30 consecutive games.
DelVal and DeSales wrap up the series tomorrow with a doubleheader at DeSales starting at 12 p.m.
