NEW YORK (Ny.) – For the first time in a long time, the Delaware Valley University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Indoor Championships over the weekend.
In order to compete at the regional championship event, a program must be a member of the region and student-athletes must reach the designated qualifying mark for each event to qualify. The Aggies had three individuals qualify in junior Sarah Mullen, women's 60-meter hurdles, first-year Wayne Hamilton, men's 60-meter hurdles, and sophomore Brandon Perot, men's shot put.
Hamilton tied the program record that he set earlier in the year, with a mark of 8.65 seconds to finish 21st out of 37. Perot tossed the shot put 12.93 meters for 34th best, and Mullen ran a 9.89 second 60-meter hurdles to earn 19th.
Head coach Tim Wilson said after the meet, "I'm really proud of our student-athletes. Qualifying for this meet is a big deal in our sport and having three athletes here is a big step forward for this program and what we are trying to build."
The Aggies will get back to training in preparation for the 2023 outdoor season.
