EWING TOWNSHIP (Nj.)--- The Delaware Valley baseball team traveled to The College of New Jersey for non-conference action and were unable to generate much offense in a 9-1 defeat.
The Lions (9-9) quickly got on the board in the first inning when Chris Reeder brought home a run with a fielder's choice to give the hosts a 1-0 lead after one inning.
Both pitching staffs were stellar through five innings as the score remained 1-0 heading into the sixth. In the bottom half of the frame, TCNJ took advantage of a pair of Aggie errors and had two hits to plate four runs in the inning to take a 5-0 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, Justin Marcario brought home a pair of runs with a two-run double to extend the lead to 7-0. Andrew Fernandez scored Marcario with a single to give the Lions an 8-0 advantage. TCNJ added a run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 9-0.
The Aggies (6-11) scored their only run of the game in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Jimmy Kelly to score Hank Bielen.
Bobby Bright, Hank Bielen and Reese Hackett each had two hits for the Aggies in the loss.
John Slover pitched two scoreless innings in relief for DelVal and Garvey Williams fired a scoreless fifth inning.
Ryan Goodall and Chris Reeder each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for TCNJ.
The Aggies will return to MAC Freedom action on Saturday, April 1st for a home doubleheader against Lycoming at 12PM.
