Ramos Collects Four Hits in Game One Win Over Stevens; Aggies Drop Game Two

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)--- Blake Ramos went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored to help propel the Delaware Valley baseball team to a 7-5 win over Stevens in game one of a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom doubleheader at Frank Wolfgang Field. The visiting Ducks responded to the loss by wining game two 9-2.

GAME ONE

Stevens (14-6, 5-3) got the scoring started in the top of the first on a two-out, RBI double by Christian Kreiser to give the visiting Ducks a 1-0 lead. The Aggies (6-8, 1-4) answered immediately in the bottom of the first when Blake Ramos doubled on the first pitch and Jonathan Drews drove him home with an RBI single, evening the score at 1-1 after one inning.

After Dalton Moore fired a scoreless top of the second inning, DelVal continued to swing hot bats in the bottom half, with Hank Bielen roping an RBI double to center field, scoring two runs and knocking Ducks' starting pitcher Jordan Fisse out of the game. Andrew Schneider singled home Bielen to extend the lead to 4-1 and Kenny Tunison doubled home Schneider to cap off the four-run inning for the Aggies, making the score 5-1.

Stevens responded in the top of the third, cutting the lead in half to 5-3 on a two-run homerun to right field by Michael Reyes.

In the bottom of the fourth, DelVal continued to add on to their lead with an RBI single from Bielen to make it 6-3 Aggies. The hosts kept their foot on the gas in the fifth when Ramos collected his fourth hit of the game to score Garrett Zimmerman, extending the lead to 7-3 after five innings.

In the top of the sixth, Orion Frailey replaced starting pitcher Dalton Moore on the mound with runners on second and third and one out. Stevens brought home a pair of runs with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single, but Frailey limited the damage to just two runs. The first-year fired a flawless top of the seventh to pick up the save.

Blake Ramos went 4-for-4 for the Aggies with two doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. Jonathan Drews, Hank Bielen and Kenny Tunison each had two hits for the Aggies, with Bielen driving in three runs.

Orion Frailey gave up just one hit while walking none and striking out one in 1.2 innings of work to pick up the save.

GAME TWO

Michael Reyes put Stevens (15-6, 5-1) on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the first. Victor Schilleci added the second run of the inning with a bases load walk to extend the lead to 2-0.

DelVal wasted no time responding as Jonathan Drews tripled home Blake Ramos just two batters into the game to make it 2-1. Andrew Schneider evened up the score with an RBI single in the inning to score Drews.

Both teams were kept quiet until the top of the fourth when Jack Stafford hit an RBI double to put Stevens ahead 3-2. Frankie Tonina brought home the second run of the inning for the Ducks with an RBI single to make it 4-2. Reyes added a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to give the visitors a 5-2 lead.

In the top of the sixth, Stevens blew the game open with four runs on just one hit as they scored two runs on bases loaded walks, a run on a sacrifice fly and a final run on a passed ball to extend the lead to 9-2.

The Aggies were held to just three hits in game two.

Michael Reyes went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for Stevens and Jack Stafford went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

DelVal will be back in action on Tuesday, March 28th at Arcadia in MAC Freedom play for a single game at 3:30PM.
