Women's Lacrosse Cruises To 19-5 Home Triumph Over Cedar Crest

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team erased an early two-goal deficit and ran away from Cedar Crest College to earn a 19-5 non-conference victory at home.

The Aggies improved to 2-3 overall while the Falcons dropped to 0-1.

Cedar Crest scored twice in a span of two minutes, 40 seconds to take an early advantage after six minutes of play.

DelVal head coach Lisa Clark called a timeout and her group responded by scoring the next seven goals of the game to take a 7-2 lead early in the second quarter. Kiara Haywood-Rivera highlighted that run with three goals while Kyra McKeegan had three assists and Susan Rawding scored twice.

After Maddie Graham scored her second of the day for the Falcons, the Aggies closed the half with a 4-0 run to open up an 11-3 lead at the half. McKeegan and Haywood-Rivera connected for another two goals and two assists.

Ashley Birmingham opened the second half scoring with her third of the game and DelVal went on to outscore the visitors 7-1 the rest of the stanza to take an 18-4 lead after three. Birmingham and Rawding each scored three times in the third.

Each team added one more in the fourth, with Allison Grzembski picking up her second goal of the season for the Aggies to lead to the 19-5 final.

Haywood-Rivera and Rawding each finished with seven points on six goals and an assist, and each picked up four ground balls. McKeegan dished out eight assists and Birmingham tacked on five goals while leading the team with nine draw controls, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Viola Anderson added a goal, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.

Graham led Cedar Crest with five points on three goals and two assists and keeper Mira Carver made eight saves.
