READING (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley baseball took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning at Albright, but surrendered five runs in the eighth inning as the Aggies dropped a non-conference match, 6-3.
The Aggies (3-4) got off to a hot start, putting their first three runners on base via a walk, single and a walk. Jonathan Drews drew a bases loaded walk to score the first run. Anthony Martino extended the lead to 2-0 with a sacrifice fly and a Liam Martin RBI single brought home the third run of the first inning.
The score remained 3-0 through five innings as Aggie starter John Slover threw five shutout innings allowing two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Albright (1-8) got on the scoreboard in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 3-1.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Lions put together their best offensive inning of the day. The hosts scored five runs on five hits and took advantage of one DelVal error to take a 6-3 lead into the ninth.
In the top of the final frame, the Aggies loaded the bases with one out to bring the go-ahead run to the plate, but Albright got a 6-4-3 double play to secure the 6-3 victory.
Sean Gledhill had two hits for the Aggies.
DelVal will enter conference play with a 3:30pm start on Friday, March 17th against Misericordia.
