DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University baseball team got on the board first, but three big innings from host Cabrini led to a 19-2 non-conference victory for the Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies fell to 3-3 overall while Cabrini improved to 9-4.
After a scoreless first, Reese Hackett drove in Jonathan Drews with a two-out single through the left side to give DelVal the 1-0 lead.
Neither team scored over the next three frames as starting pitcher Derek Cannon helped the Aggies with two punch outs in the second and a pair of groundouts to work out of a bases loaded jam in the third.
The Cavaliers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to five straight hits with one out. After a Brook single, Dickerson doubled, and Houghton followed with a two-run triple. The next batter, Glatts, executed a squeeze bunt for an RBI before Sepe doubled to left to plate Glatts. Later in the inning, a sacrifice by Narciso scored Sepe and made it a 5-1 game after five.
DelVal got one back in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Drews that scored Sean Gledhill, but that was all the Aggie bats could muster the rest of the way.
Cabrini added five runs on five hits in the sixth, and another nine runs on five hits in the eighth to run away with the win.
DelVal had seven hits in the game, led by a 2-for-2 effort from Liam Martin off the bench. Five Aggie pitchers combined for 19 earned runs allowed on 20 hits with 12 walks and four strikeouts.
Brook led the Cavaliers with a 4-for-6 effort, three runs scored, and an RBI, while Dickerson and Houghton combined for seven hits, five RBI, and five runs scored.
The Aggies will be back in action on Wednesday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. at Albright College.
