Men's Hoops Drops Contest at York 84-72

York, Pa. - Godly Marc's 21 points were not enough, with the Delaware Valley men's basketball team falling to the York College Spartans 84-72 on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Gombs connected with Antonio Redding for the first bucket of the contest before York built up a 10-4 advantage. The Spartans 6-0 run ended as Tyriq Toney-Bailey found the twine with a step-back jumper. Down 14-11, Redding drained a three-point shot to tie the game at the halfway mark, he would end the first 20 minutes with 10 points. A three-minute scoreless drought ended for the Aggies when Justin Ramsey-Blythe was fouled and sank one of the throws. DelVal sank back-to-back free threes to take a 28-25 lead, their first lead since the beginning of the game but was unable to hold it, going to the locker room down 33-31.

The squads trained baskets to open the second half with York holding their slim lead. Kai Cipalla and the Spartans with on a 10-0 over three minutes to build a 51-41 advantage with 14 minutes remaining, Rasheem Dearry eventually broke the drought with a jumper. A pair of Marc free throws and a Toney-Bailey three inched the Aggies back to within four of York at the halfway mark of the half. York held their advantage through the next seven minutes where they went on an 11-12 tear from the floor. Chris Miers hit his sixth three-pointer on the day to reach another ten-point buffer for the Spartans which held up for the remainder of the game.

Following the loss, the Aggies dropped to 3-3 overall. The Aggies next hit the court at home on Wednesday, Dec. 6, hosting Penn State Abington at 8:00 p.m.
