New York, NY – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team was bested by ninth ranked New York University on Saturday afternoon 98-56.
Starting his first game this season, Zoelin Pair got the Aggies on the board with a three, closely followed by Antonio Redding with a three of his own. Six minutes in, a steal by Jordan Gombs sent Goddy Marc the other way for a layup. The two connected again seconds later, this time for a Goddy Marc three, giving the Aggies the lead. Delaware Valley didn't score for the next nine minutes, with New York going ahead 32-16, Justin Ramsey-Blythe broke the scoreless streak. Redding, Goldy Marc, and Colin MacAdams all sank threes in the final two minutes, but still trailed by 16 going into the break.
New York picked up where they left off, scoring the first ten points over the opening three minutes before a Pair layup. NYU built up their advantage to 43 points, followed by a MacAdams three, the graduate student led the Aggies scoring 11 points, Pair followed with nine points and rebounds. Entering the game in the closing minutes, Alec Hilliard and Kamal Johnson both drained threes before the final buzzer.
With the loss, the Aggies fall to 5-4 and look to get back on track by taking on Goucher College on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 3:00 p.m. inside James Work Gymnasium.
