Doylestown, Pa. - Four Delaware Valley University Aggies including Rasheem Dearry tally double-digit points in an 86-69 win over Goucher College on Tuesday afternoon.
Jordan Gombs stole the ball sending Dearry for a jumper to open the scoring. The squads traded baskets and the score remained close at the halfway mark, with the Aggies up 16-15 thanks to a Gombs layup. Tyriq Toney-Bailey stole the ball and made a layup to keep it tied at 19 before the Gophers snagged a four-point advantage with 7:39 remaining. Back-to-back Aggie steals tied the score once again where Godly Marc and Antonio Redding both capitalized. DelVal couldn't grab the lead again until the final seconds when Colin MacAdams collected with Gombs for a three to send the Aggies to the locker room up 39-36.
DelVal came out strong and quickly built up the lead to seven after a turnover and a Dearry layup. Goody Marc connected on a three-pointer and his brother Godly Marc followed with a layup to boost the Aggies, now up 16 with 11:57 remaining. The largest lead came six minutes later when Godly Marc laid another in after Gombs notched another steal, the Gophers turned the ball over 20, with DelVal tallying 11 steals. In the final two minutes, off the bench, Kamal Johnson and JoJo Pierre found the bucket to wrap up an impressive second half where the Aggies shot 55.9%. The 49.3% on the day marks their best of the 2023-24 season thus far.
After an exhibition at division one Princeton, the 6-4 Aggies return just before the new year to host Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1:00 p.m.
