Frederick, Md. - Rasheem Dearry boosted the Delaware Valley men's Basketball club to a close 81-77 victory over Lehman College on the second day of the Hood Tip-Off Tournament.
Lehman stretched out to an early 8-0 lead until Justin Savage drained a three-pointer to get the Aggies on the board. A minute later, Godly Marc stole the ball and sent Dearry in the other direction stepping back to sink a three of his own. At 14:23 Jordan Gombs was fouled and sank both free throws to give DelVal the lead. The Lightning built up a six-point advantage and were able to maintain it until the final minute went Godly Marc dropped in a layup followed by a Zoelin Pair layup to bring the Aggies within one going to the break.
Through the first six minutes of the second half, DelVal thanks to a Tyriq Toney-Bailey three and Godly Marc layup. The Lightning crawled back to even the score at the halfway mark thanks to a few DelVal miscues and would keep the lead until Lehman turned the ball over to Gombs, laying in a basket. The clubs traded baskets through the remaining minutes, but the Aggies grabbed back-to-back offensive rebounds and Gombs was finally able to drop one with 40 seconds left. Colin MacAdams was sent to the free throw line with seven seconds left and drained both baskets to seal the first win of the season for Delaware Valley 81-77.
