CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team took the first set by a margin of 20 and never looked back going 3-0 to defeat Clarks Summit on Thursday night.
 
The Aggies advance to 9-6 in the season overall while Clarks Summit falls to 0-17.
 
DelVal's offense came out hot with a 5-0 run highlighted by back-to-back service aces and a kill from 
Gretta Schneider. The Defenders ended the run with a kill of their own, but the Aggies quickly jumped back into action putting up another four-straight points for a 9-1 advantage. DelVal went on to hold 7Clarks Summit to just four more points while going on a 5-0 run, 3-0 run and 6-0 run totaling 12 kills in the set for the 25-5 win.
 
Monique Smith started the Aggies with a service ace to open the second set leading to a 10-1 run for DevlVal. An error put the Defenders back on the board, but the scoring was quickly stuffed with back-to-back kills from Jenna Kreiser and 
Emma Helverson. Clarks Summit held the 8-6 advantage to cut the deficit to 18-10. A short 3-0 run from the Aggies put them back at an 11-point advantage, 21-10. The Defenders attempted a comeback with a 5-0 run to bring the score to 21-15, but two 
Grace Kane kills helped DelVal to hold a 4-3 advantage through the remainder of the set for the 25-18 win.
 
Some early errors and a Kreiser kills helped the Aggies to a 4-0 run to start the third set. The teams then traded the next four points to keep the deficit to half, 8-4. A 6-3 run with two kills from 
Olivia Deffendall and one from 
Victoria Tucker helped DelVal to a seven-point lead, 14-7. The Defenders put up one, but DelVal's momentum continued with a 5-0 run to create an 11-point gap, 19-8. Kills from Deffendall and 
Emma Helverson helped the Aggies on a final 4-1 run to take the set 25-13.
 
Kreiser and Deffendall shared the offensive load with seven kills apiece followed closely by Tucker with six. Tucker and Kresier ended the match each with a .667 hitting percentage. Schneider led from back court with two service aces. 
Grace Wilson and Kreiser held down the defense with six digs each.
 
DelVal returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at King's College for a 7 p.m. MAC Freedom matchup.
